There was an article on the news yesterday regarding a inflatable tender being used by migrants to try to cross from Dunkirk to the UK.
This reminded me of a warning from Hampshire Police in December as part of their “Project Kraken” which said “Having drawn your attention to the potential for our area to be the receptacle for illicit arrivals from the Cherbourg peninsula, we would ask that you continue with a measured sense of heightened awareness.”
In our own cross-channel passages we have never been questioned arriving in the UK until last October when we were contacted by VHF and politely asked a few questions. No problem with that or more.
However, I hope this is not going to become a bigger issue in the Channel in future.
